The importance of free food distribution is deeply rooted in Vedic literature, where it is considered a sacred duty and an act of immense merit. In the Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 3, Verse 13), it is stated, "The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food that is first offered for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin." This verse underscores the significance of sharing food selflessly, as it purifies the giver and nurtures society. Similarly, the Srimad Bhagavatam (10.22.35) mentions that by distributing food, one pleases the Supreme Lord and attains spiritual benefits. Hence, the Vedic tradition venerates food distribution as an essential practice for spiritual upliftment and societal welfare.
